Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from Schmitt & Olson Chapel with Rev. Langdon officiating, and burial will be in the Fairview cemetery. Mrs. Quick died in 1940.
Born at Flemington, New Jersey, July 8 1862, Jacques V. Quick graduated from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy while still a boy and went to Chicago to work. Here, he met W. P. Adams, then one of the owners of one of the huge bonanza farms then in Richland county. Mr. Adams was a customer at the Chicago drug store where Doctor Quick worked as a pharmacist.
Mr. Adams told the young man of the great opportunities in the plains of North Dakota and particularly in Wahpeton near which town the Adams farms were located.
After getting sufficient money ahead, Dr. Quick returned to Philadelphia and completed a course in the Jefferson School of Medicine. The young doctor came out to Wahpeton where he practiced medicine since with the exception of a few years spent in Alaska during the fabulous gold rush days.
Dr. Quick is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R. M. Falley of Charleston, South Carolina, and Mrs. John Tribke of Seattle, Wash., and a brother, Harry Quick of Fargo. Mrs. Tribke had just left for her home after visiting her father, Mrs. Falley is in Wahpeton.
In early pioneer days, Doctor Quick was a familiar figure all over the county, making the trips to distant points by horse and buggy. At one time he owned a business building on Dakota avenue as well as the large Quick home on Sixth street north, but during the last year he had disposed of his real estate holdings. He was for many years the owner of a drug store in Wahpeton, located between Fifth and Sixth streets.
