Obituary
Chas. A. Sturdevant, 74, Dies In Arizona; Rites Wednesday
Charles A. Sturdevant, 74, founder of Sturdevant Auto Parts and father of Mayor Virgil Sturdevant died Friday at Tucson, Ariz. He had been in ill health for several years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the Boss Methodist church, Rev. Everett C. H. Owens officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. The Wahpeton A. F. & A. M. Lodge will conduct Masonic rites at the church.
Charles Arthur Sturdevant was born Dec. 21, 1888, in Saunders County, Nebraska.
He was married to Lucy Maude Hartman at Moorhead. They moved to Wahpeton in 1923.
Mr. Sturdevant began in the auto electric business purchasing the interest of John Ness in a firm then established. Sturdevant Auto Electric now has stores at Moorhead, Elbow Lake, Milbank, Lisbon, and Wheaton in addition to Wahpeton.
Since 1946 Mr. and Mrs. Sturdevant had spent winters at Tucson, returning to Wahpeton summers.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Sturdevant is survived by two sons, Virgil and Glenn, Wahpeton and a daughter, Mrs. Camille Johnson, Newark, N. J.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, Arvid, Pipestone, Minn., also survives.
Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Robert Sturdevant, Richard Sturdevant, James Sturdevant, Terrance Sturdevant, Virgil Sturdevant, Jr., and Michael Sturdevant.
