FUNERAL TODAY FOR FORMER WAHPETON GIRL Mrs. Agnes Arntzen Schlechter Dies at Minneapolis Sunday After a Long Illness

Mrs. Agnes Arntzen Schlechter, wife of E. J. Schlechter of Whitetail, Mont., and sister of Mrs. P. C. Olsen, Mrs. A. H. Burnson and Mrs. Martin C. Voves of Wahpeton, died Sunday morning at a Minneapolis hospital, after a

long illness. During a serious epidemic of influenza in Montana last year she contracted the disease, which developed into pneumonia, from which she never recovered. Last summer she stopped at Wahpeton on her way to Minneapolis to enter a hospital. Her seven-months old baby was left with relatives and died soon after, a loss which further weakened the mother.

Mrs. Schlechter was born at Forman, N. D., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niels Arntzen, pioneers, attended school at Wahpeton. She went to Dillon, Mont., to finish her schooling in the state normal college there and later held a teaching position at Plentywood, Mont., where she was married Dec. 1, 1922, to E. J. Schlechter. She had often been in Wahpeton to visit her sisters here.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Niels Arntzen of Forman, by her husband and by five sisters; Mrs. P. C. Olsen, Mrs. A. H. Burnson and Mrs. Martin C. Voves of Wahpeton; Mrs. Phillips of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mrs. A. O. Olson of St. Paul, Minn. Two sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Schechter, one dying at birth and the other dying last July when seven months old. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church in Wahpeton at 11 o’clock this (Tuesday) morning, the Rev. Chester F. Dunham officiating. Rebekahs of Wahpeton will attend in a body. Pallbearers will be brothers-in law of the deceased. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.
