F. B Schneller Passes Away Here Monday Morning After Lingering Illness
Pioneer Leader Was one of County’s Veteran Lawyers and Prominent Workers
Funeral services for F. B. Schneller will be conducted at two o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the Masonic temple. Judge George M. McKenna of Napoleon will deliver the funeral address. The services at the temple will be in charge of the Christian Science society. At the grave in Fairview cemetery, the Wahpeton Lodge, A.F. & A.M. will be in charge of the services.
Richland county lost another of is pioneer leaders this (Monday) morning when F. B Schneller, a member of the Richland county bar since 1905, passed away. Mr. Schneller had been ill for some time.
Frank Bennett Schneller was born in Minneapolis, March 3, 877, and came to Wahpeton with his parents, when he was six years old. His parents were Frank Schneller and Sarah Bennett-Schneller.
F. B. Schneller attended grade school here and graduated from high school here. He graduated from a business college at Grand Forks and return to Wahpeton to be employed by Purcell and Bradley. He studied law under the late Senator W. E. Purcell and was admitted to the bar in June 1905.
He then engaged in law as a member of the law firm of Radman and Schneller. In 1907, he purchased the interest of Chas. Bade with the late Charles E. Wolfe. The law firm of Wolfe and Schneller existed until 1922, when Mr. Wolfe was appointed district judgeship. J.A. Heder then was a member of the firm for two years after which Clifford Schneller went into business with his father, under the firm name of Schneller and Schneller.
During his lifetime in Wahpeton, F. B. Schneller became prominently identified with the affairs of the city and county. He served the city as alderman, city auditor, City attorney and as police magistrate. At the time of death, he was assistant states attorney of the county. Dead in the prime of his life, he has left an impress upon on affairs of the city and county. He was ever active in governmental functions and in the social life of the community. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge and I. O. O. P. He was prominent in church work and in community affairs. On January 3, 1900, F. B Schneller was married to Josephine Skauge. To this union, two children were born, Donna and Clifford. His parents preceded him in death as did his brother, George, who was killed in the Phillipine Islands in 1899 during the Spanish-American war.
Ill for some time, F. B. Schneller, pioneer Richland County attorney died at his home at four o’clock this (Monday) morning. Mr. Schneller has been active in the county for the past 40 years as a lawyer and political leader.
