Obituary

Mrs. Schroeder Dies Sunday

Mrs. Rudolph (Mathilda) Schroeder, 73, who resided at 109 Fifth Avenue North, Wahpeton, died at her home early Sunday morning after being ill for a time. Funeral services will be at 2 Wednesday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. E. J. Rutter officiating. Organist will be Miss Janet Rutter who will accompany the ladies choir. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Wahpeton.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8:30 and Wednesday until noon at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home and from 1 until 2 at the church prior to services.

Casket bearers will be Curtis Peterson, David Stine, Alvin and Rudolph Schoeneck, and Ernest and George Stein.

Mathilda Stein was born April 6, 1897, at Hankinson, the daughter of Fred and Martha Ponath. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Hankinson and attended school there. She married Rudolph W. Schroeder Nov. 6, 1918, at Breckenridge. The couple farmed for two years at Great Bend and then moved to Wahpeton where they have since resided. Mr. Schroeder was employed by Holthusen Brothers until he retirement. Mrs. Schroeder was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wahpeton.

She is survived by her husband; two sons and one daughter, Ralph of Wahpeton, Cyril of Breckenridge, Mrs. Montell (Loraine) Peterson of Marshfield, Wis.; two brothers and two sisters, Reinhart Stein of Wahpeton, Robert Stein of Doran, Mrs. George (Bernice) Zentgraf of Great Bend, Mrs. Clarence (Edna) Johnson of Oshkosh, Wis.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
