Funeral For Mrs. C. Schweizer Held Monday Afternoon
Resident Here for 52 Years Buried From Bethel Lutheran Church
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock for Mrs. Caroline Schweizer, pioneer Wahpeton woman, who passed away Thursday afternoon. Rev. J. C. Wisnaes officiated at services in Bethel Lutheran church and interment was in Fairview cemetery in the family lot.
Caroline Vollmer was born November 29 1856, in Baden-Baden, Germany, and grew to womanhood there. She came to Wahpeton as a bride of 24 years and has lived here for the past 52 years. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Schweizer wee beloved members of the community for many years and raised a fine family in the city.
Jacob Schweizer engaged in the contracting business until his death in 1922. Three children survived. They are: Mrs. Fred Rigge, Butte, N.D., Henry and Herman, both of Wahpeton, and nine grandchildren. Dr. and Mrs. T. R. Lein, Minneapolis, and Olaf Lein, Lake City, S.D. brothers of Mrs. Henry Schweizer were among the out-of-town people in attendance at the last rites.
