Obituary

William A. Sedler Wahpeton Pioneer, Dies on Saturday

William A. Sedler, one of the early pioneers of Wahpeton vicinity died Saturday at his home near here. Funeral services are to be conducted Tuesday afternoon from the First Congregational church here with Rev. James S. Caskey officiating at two o’clock. There will be services at the home 1:15. Pallbearers will be nephew of the deceased.

William A. Sedler was born in Pomerania, Germany, May 29, 1858. He came from Germany direct to Richland county, Dakota territory in 1881. He was married to Amelia Otto in 1888 and settled on the home farm on which he lived until his death. His wife preceded him in death in 1927.

This union was pleased with six children of whom two sons are dead. Those surviving are Gerhart of Rothsay, Minn., Mrs. Ben (Olga) Witt, Wahpeton and William and Martha at home. He also leaves three grandchildren, three brothers; Albert Sedler of Havana, N.D.; Herman Sedler of Hankinson, N.D.; and Theodore Sedler of St. Paul, Minn. There are a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Sedler we a member of the Evangelical church here until its closing. He was characterized as an honest and industrious man, a loving husband and father, always thinking of the welfare of his family. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.
