Obituary
J.L. Severson Rites Wednesday
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning (today) for Joe L. Severson, 76, at Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home with the Rev. Royal B. Steiner officiating. The music was by Mr. and Mrs. James Horton. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Miller-Hafner-Ross American Legion Post conducted the presentation of the flag. Mr. Severson died Monday.
Pallbearers were Lester Allen, William Allen, John Loberg, Edward Neuman, Larry Neuman and Clifford Johnson.
Mr. Severson was born at Dell Rapids, S.D., March 23, 1892, the son of Knute and Martha Severson. He came to Breckenridge with his parents in 1901 and later was employed as a blacksmith in Wahpeton,
Breckenridge and Campbell. He served in France in World War I and was a charter member of the American Legion at Wahpeton. He retired 10 years ago and made his home in Campbell.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. John (Bernice) Loberg of Breckenridge, Mrs. Albert (Cora) Allen of Park Rapids, Minn., and Mrs. Jesse (Josephine) Alien of Moorhead.
He was preceded in death by His parents, two sisters, Molly Johnson and Marie Hood, and one brother, Clarence Severson.
