Obituary
John Shebeck
Funeral services for John F. Shebeck, 82, of Wahpeton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home with Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Shebeck died Sunday at the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until time of services at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home.
John Shebeck was born Mar. 16, 1892 at Veseleyville, N.D. to Frank and Hannah Shebeck. He grew up on a farm near Tintah and attended schools there, later moving to Wahpeton.
He married Rachel F. Lee Jan. 7, 1915 at Wahpeton and worked there as a streetcar conductor until moving to Nevis, Minn. in 1921. He lived there for 20 years before moving back to Wahpeton in 1941. He worked for Hoppert's for a number of years before starting his own trucking business which he operated for 12 years. He then worked ten years as a custodian at City Hall before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel, of the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Beatrice) Kropp of Wahpeton and Mrs. Harry (Marcella) Olson of Minot; one sister, Rose Shebeck of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Marjorie; two sons, Paul and Irvin; two brothers; and five sisters.
Arrangements were with Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home.
