Rachel Shebeck

Funeral services for Mrs. John (Rachel) Shebeck, 76, of Wahpeton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Mrs. Shebeck died Sunday at the Wahpeton Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until the time of services at the chapel.

Casket bearers will be Mark Johnson, Jerome Nelson, David Kropp, Roger Thompson, Barry Olson and Ralph Brackin.

Rachel Lee was born Aug. 30, 1898 at Lakeville, Minn. to Torgus and Annie Lee.

She grew up at Lakeville moving to Erhard when she was eight and attending schools there. She later came to Wahpeton and worked at the City Hotel.

She married John F. Shebeck Jan. 7, 1915 at Wahpeton. The couple moved to Nevis, Minn. and farmed there for 20 years before moving back to Wahpeton in 1941.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Beatrice) Kropp of Wahpeton and Mrs. Harry (Marcella) Olson of Minot; five brothers, John and Art of Erhard, Oscar of Crystal Lake, Ill., George of Palermo, N.D. and Olaf of Oreville, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Jennie) Snyder of Wahpeton, Mrs. Albert (Ella) Johnson of Crescent City, Calif., and Mrs. Joe (Helga) Schoenhers of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John on Jan. 5, 1975; and one brother.

Arrangements are with Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home.
