Irvin Shebeck Funeral Friday In Wahpeton
Irvin John Shebeck, 38, who with his brother, Paul operated the Shebeck Bros. garage in Breckenridge until 1953, died in a veterans hospital in Downey, Ill. He became suddenly ill and was taken to the hospital. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
The body arrived in Wahpeton for funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. CDT in the Vertin Funeral home Chapel. Rev. P. A. Gisvold will officiate and interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery.
Military rites will be conducted by the Breckenridge American Legion Post. Vertin Funeral home in Wahpeton has charge.
He was born October 5, 1910 in Wahpeton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shebeck but when a lad moved with his parents to Nevis, Minn., where he attended schools and grew to manhood. He returned with his parents to Wahpeton in 1942 and was employed by Lillegard Chevrolet Co., until entering the armed services during World War II. He served in the European Theatre seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he worked for a time in construction of the Alcon Highway tp Alaska.
He married Luella Hermes in Chicago, Ill, in 1945. A short time later they returned to this community when he and his brother entered the garage business. In 1953 they sold the business and the family moved to McHenry, IL., where he had resided since. He was a construction worker in the area.
Surviving besides his wife are three children, James 11, Ronald E, 8, and Collen, 5, his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Shebeck, Wahpeton, a brother Paul of Crystal Lake, ILL and two sisters, Mrs. Harry Olson & Mrs. Ray Kropp, both of Wahpeton.
