Obituary
OLD SETTLER DEAD
Charles H. Sleeper, for thirty years, a resident of this city, passed into the great beyond Saturday morning, December 24, suffering from troubles arising from his age.
He was born at Levent, Me., August 14, 1840, and was married December 18, 1873 to Helen T. Skillin of his home town.
In 1879 he and his young wife came to North Dakota taking up a claim near DeVillo. In 1880 they moved to this city where they have since resided.
Mr. Sleeper leaves to mourn his departure a wife and one daughter, the only child. Also a brother H. B. Sleeper, a twin, who resides here.
Charles H. Sleeper was one of Wahpeton's finest citizens, a genial old man whose friends were but limited by his acquaintanceship. He had been a member of the Masonic order for the past forty-five years and the society was in charge of the obsequies. Interment being made Monday.
The many friends of the sorrowing wife and daughter extend to them their heartfelt sympathy.
