Obituary
Mrs. Peter Sletten Funeral Held Today at Bethel Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Peter (Malinda) Sletten, 77, long-time Wahpeton resident, were held this afternoon (Monday) at Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. She died Friday night at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge.
Malinda Cherry was born in Pennsylvania, Dec. 25, 1890. She came to Kent, Minn., in 1899 and later moved to Wahpeton where she was employed. She was married to Peter Sletten on October 2, 1915 at Fergus Falls, Minn., and the couple farmed near Wahpeton four years before moving to town. Mr. Sletten died in 1949.
Following the death of Mr. Sletten she was employed at the Wahpeton Laundry and Cleaners for several years. She was a life member of the ALCW at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one son Milton of Wahpeton and four grandchildren.
Besides Mr. Sletten, she was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Active pallbearers were Robert Woodbury, Harold Bushwein, Arthur Johnson, Lawrence Olson, Allen Torgeson and Oscar Lund. Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Johnson, Arthur Lee, Rudy Sparby, Odin Wold, A. C. Smith, Clarence Roseth and Vernon Hektner.
Organist was Mrs. James Horton and Arnold Bakko was vocalist.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
Vertin’s Wahpeton was in charge of arrangements.
