Mrs. Edgar Smith Rites Held Here
Lydie Annie Bowman was born at Lewis, Iowa, on June 25, 1871. There she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Edgar Smith on August 8, 1888. To this union, was born one son Glen.
Together with her husband and son, she moved to North Dakota in March, 1914 and settled in the Dwight neighborhood on a farm and in the spring of 1917 moved into Breckenridge where the family lived until March 1, 1919 when they moved to Wahpeton where they have since made their home. Mr. Smith Passed away on August 19, 1923. Since that time Mrs. Smith has lived with her son Glen who now mourns her going.
Mrs. Smith suffered a stroke some ten days ago and then a second stroke during the weekend from which she did not rally but quietly passed away about one o’clock.
Mrs. Smith was one of a family of several all of whom have gone except one brother, Sampson Bowman of Carson, Iowa.
Mrs. Smith was a kind and faithful wife and loving mother and an excellent and true friend.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Vertin Funeral Home with Rev. J. W. LaGrone of the Methodist Episcopal church in charge. Mrs. H. W. Rife and Mrs. LaGrone sang three beautiful numbers and the body was buried besides her husband’s in the family lot in the west side cemetery. Mrs. Smith Dies Here On Monday
Mrs. Little Annie Smith, 124 Third Ave. south, Wahpeton, died at one o’clock today (Monday) following a stroke. She passed away at he Wahpeton hospital. Funeral services will probably be held Wednesday and interment will be in Fairview cemetery. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The body lies in state in the Vertin Funeral chapel. Mrs. Smith was born June 25, 63 years ago, at Lewis, Iowa, and came from Iowa to Wahpeton in March, 1913. She has made her home here since that time. She suffered a stroke on New Year’s Day at her home. She never recovered from the first stroke and when a second stroke occurred Saturday, she was taken to the Wahpeton hospital. She is survived by a son, Glen, at home and a brother, Sam Bowman, at Corson, Iowa.
