Obituary
Rites Slated Friday For Mrs. L. Smith
Mrs. Laura Lee Smith, 81, of Wahpeton, died Tuesday at the Rosholt, S. D., nursing home.
Funeral services will be at 2 Friday from Vertin's Wahpeton Chapel with Walter Jordheim and Dean Swenson officiating. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton and Friday morning until time of service.
Mrs. Smith was born March 1, 1888, at Chico, Texas. She was raised there and was employed as a dressmaker and tailor in Texas and was employed by Penney's at Tucson, Arizona. She married Joe McKenzie in Texas and two children were born by this marriage. He preceded her in death.
She was married to Alfred C. Smith at Los Angeles, Aug. 11, 1947, and lived at Wahpeton, since. He was employed at the Great Northern roundhouse.
Surviving are her husband, Alfred, one daughter, Mrs. August (Laura Mae) Buschianeri of Carson City, Nev.; two sisters and four brothers, Mrs. William (Viola) Turb of Los Angeles, Mrs. Nettie Walker of Padaduha, Texas, Millard Carns of Campbell, Calif., Joseph Carnes of Amarillo, Texas, Robert Carnes of Willington, Texas, and Glen Carnes of Nid, Okla.
She was preceded in death by a son, James M., who died August 1968 and her first husband.
Mrs. A. C. Smith Funeral Friday
Funeral services were held Friday at Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel for Mrs. Alfred C. (Laura Lee) Smith with Walker Jardine and Dean Swenson officiating. Organist was Mrs. Horace Lahren of Wahpeton and soloist was Richard Peterson of Milnor. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in the spring. Mrs. Smith died Tuesday in the Rosholt Nursing Home.
Pallbearers were Albert Martin, Elmer Nordine, Elmer Affield, Hjalmer Jacobson, Roger Slotted and Edward Wold.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Alfred C. Smith; one daughter, Mrs. August (Lola Mae) Bauchianerri of Carson City, Nev.; two sisters and four brothers.
She was preceded in death by one son, James M., who died in August 1968, and her first husband, Joe McKenzie.
