Obituary

Edward Smith Found Dead in Wahpeton

Edward F. Smith, 77 years old was found dead at his home in Wahpeton Sunday morning apparently having died of a heart attack Saturday evening. The aged man had come to Wahpeton to make his home two years ago. He retired from working as a machinist for the A. O. Smith Corporation in Milwaukee in 1952. A brother, Julius Smith, resides here.

Dr. Bateman was called and pronounced the death due to a heart attack.

Edward Smith was born in Liberty Grove township., Door county, Wis., April 17, 1880, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Smith. He spent his entire life in Wisconsin until he came here. He never married. Surviving beside his brother here is another brother. Charles of White, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at two o’clock, daylight time, at First Congregational church. Rev. B. B. Curtis will officiate in the absence of Rev. Hirons. Six nephews will act as pallbearers. Ferdinand, Elmer, Irvin, Anthony, Floyd and Arthur. The body will be in state at the Schmitt & Poulton funeral home. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening.
