Minnie Smith

Mrs. Julius (Minnie) Smith, 95, Wahpeton, died Saturday at St. Francis Home, Breckenridge. The funeral will be at 10:30 Tuesday in United Church of Christ, Wahpeton, Rev. Stanley Mueller officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening, Vertin's Wahpeton Chapel and at the Church one hour prior to services. There will be a prayer service Monday at 8 p.m. also in the chapel.

Minnie was born April 13, 1879, to Julius and Caroline Berndt, Chicago. The family moved to White Rock, S.D., when she was a child where she attended schools. She was married April 4, 1900 at White Rock, S.D., to Julius Smith. In 1904 the couple came to Great Bend where they farmed later moving to a farm near Wahpeton. They moved into Wahpeton in 1939. Her husband died in 1960. She was a member of United Church of Christ and Dwight Aid. She is survived by four sons, Ferdinand, Tony and Ervin, all Wahpeton and Elmer, Doran; a brother and two sisters, Conrad and Mrs. Charles (Amanda) Smith, both White Rock, and Mrs. Frank (Emma) Smith, Brookings, S.D. (Three brothers married three sisters); 17 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded by a son, Arnold, five brothers and three sisters.
