Taletta Smith
Services for Mrs. Ferd (Taletta) Smith, 71, of rural Wahpeton will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at United Church of Christ (Congregational) at Wahpeton with Rev. J. Edward Krueger officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Saturday at St. Francis Hospital.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home chapel. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Casket bearers will be Allen, Duane, David, and Bryan Smith, Jerry Dauer, and Bruce Nordick.
Taletta Buss was born June 7, 1905 at Parkersburg, Iowa, to Louis and Anna (Jongeling) Buss. She grew up there and attended local schools. She came to the Mooreton, N.D. area with her parents in 1917.
She married Ferdinand Smith Nov. 7, 1923 at Mooreton. The couple farmed in Ibsen Township and later in Mooreton Township where they resided at the time of her death.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational).
Survivors are her husband; four sons, Lyle, Marlyn and Lester, all of Wahpeton and Louis of Nampa, Idaho; four daughters, Mrs. John (Viola) Dauer and Mrs. Mark (Lucylle) Schmitt of Wahpeton, Mrs. Gerald (Sharon) Tetzloff of Mooreton, and Mrs. Harold (Audrey) Robert of Nampa, Idaho; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jenny Rooney and Mrs. Ben (Emma) Loll, both of Wahpeton; and a brother, Clarence, of Dumont, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a brother, a sister, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
