Obituary
Mrs. P. Snyder Rites Thursday
The funeral for Mrs. Porter (Julia) Snyder, 80, will be at 2 Thursday in the United Methodist Church in Wahpeton with the Rev. Stanley Mueller and the Rev. H. T. Nyhus officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Vocalist will be Roland Nies and the Rev. and Mrs. Nyhus accompanied by Mrs. Don Gripentrog. Mrs. Snyder died Monday at St Francis Hospital in Breckenridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Willis, A. W. Luick, George Bickerdike, O. F. Caulkins, Wallace Hardie, Alfred Biggs Sr., Paul Walker and Leonard Osborn. Active pallbearers will be Fred Snyder Jr., Robert Nelson, Dr. Arthur SnyderJr., Donald Rodney and Dale Voss.
Julie Voss was born at Freeport, Ill., Dec 4, 1888, the daughter of John and Mary Voss. She came to the Fairmount area in1910 and lived with her brothers. She married Porter Snyder in Wahpeton June 14, 1911 and the couple lived in Roseau, Minn., for five years before returning to Fairmount to farm. While living in the LaMars area, Mrs. Snyder taught Sunday School in the Church of the Nazarene at Rosholt. The couple retired and moved to Wahpeton in 1957. They resided in the Leach Home for the past six months. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wahpeton.
She is survived by her husband; two sons and one daughter, Roy,John, and Mrs. Burt (Florence) Burvee, all of Fairmount; two brothers and three sisters, John Voss of Freeport, Ill., William Voss and Mrs. Niles (Alice) Walter, both of Rosholt, S. D., Mrs. Marvin (Alma) Luick of Arenda, Calif., and Mrs. Ted (Virginia) Lien of Walnut Creek, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by four brothers and one sister, Grover, Charles, Edward and Irvon Voss and Lillian Nelson, and a daughter-in-law, Marguerite Snyder.
