Frederick C. Snyder-1914 F. C. SNYDER ELECTROCUTED Well knows Citizen Killed in His Home By Electricity Last Friday
The city was startled last Friday afternoon when it became known that our well known townsman, Frederick C. Snyder, had met a sudden death by electrocution in his home. His Mr. Snyder had entered one of the rooms of the house and on seizing the electric light socket to turn on the light received a sufficient charge of electricity to render death instantaneous.
Mr. Snyder’s death is one of those accident which admits of no definite
explanation. It is believed, however, that during the electric storm just proceeding, a stroke of lightning had followed the lighting wires, burning out the transformer, thereby allowing the high voltage to tenter the house.
Mr. Snyder, by touching the light socket formed a “ground” for this current, receiving the same through his body, with result of death. The funeral was held Sunday from the Methodist church, J. W. Worner, director. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery. Rev. Duden officiated.
Mr. Frederick C. Snyder was 64 years of age, and had spent much of his life as a farmer near Fairmount. About four years ago he retired and moved to Wahpeton, where he has become well known. Mr. Snyder leaves a widow and seven children-five sons and two daughters-Burt, who is a farmer near Fairmount; Porter, also a farming near Fairmount; Fred, who lives with Porter, and Lee and Arthur of Wahpeton; Mrs. Lulu Coe of Hetinger, N. D., and Miss Bessie of Wahpeton.
The sympathy of the Globe-Gazette and of many friends is extended to the bereaved family.
