FORMER STATES ATTY. S. H. SNYDER IS DEAD Funeral Services Held Yesterday for Once Prominent Resident of Wahpeton

S. H. Snyder, aged 77, a resident of Wahpeton for the past 42 years and a former state’s attorney of Richland county, died at St. Francis hospital, Breckenridge, at 1:30 o’clock Tuesday morning. Mr. Snyder had been failing for some time and was a hospital patient for a month preceding his death. He was born in Iowa 77 years ago and came to Wahpeton in 1885, about 42 years ago, a graduate of the University of Iowa. He served as states attorney for Richland county three terms. Later he became interested in the old electric light company here and ultimately became sole owner. Eventually he sold the company property to the Otter Tail Power company, and since then has lived in retirement.

He leaves two brothers and a sister. They are J. C. Snyder, of Pasadena, Calif., C. A. Snyder, of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Kemp, of Bethany, West Va. Funeral services were held at 4:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The body was taken direct from the Vertin funeral chapel to Fairview cemetery, where the Rev. Martin Davis, pastor of Foss Methodist Church, conducted services.

Pallbearers were older members of the Richland county bar, of which Mr. Snyder was formerly a member. They were Judge Charles E. Wolfe, Senator W. E. Purcell, the Hon. Joseph G. Forbes, Atty. Gustav Schuler, Atty. Dan R. Jones and Atty. F. B. Schneller.
