Obituary
Garland Stein Funeral Friday In Wahpeton
Funeral service for Garland Stein, 32, of Wahpeton, who died Tuesday at a Fargo hospital, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Immanuel Lutheran church here with Rev. Henry Fry officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with Vertin Funeral Home of Wahpeton in charge.
Full military honors will be accorded by the Wahpeton American Legion Post of which he was a member.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McKelvey, Marvin Weiss, Alfred Sandera, Clarence Achter, Earl Stein, Ort Halvorson, Robert Spencer, Al Johnson, Si Anderson and Charles Coghlan.
Active bearers will be Albert Ehli, Horace Lahren, Loren Pavek, Clifford Stoebe, Norman King and Harold Diederich.
Garland Robert Stein, a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Stein of Wahpeton, was born May 30, 1922. He attended grade school here and graduated from Wahpeton High School.
He was employed by the Coast-to-Coast store here before enlisting in the U. S. Army during World War II when he served two years in the European theatre.
September 23, 1944, he married Elsie Patterson of Page N.D. and after his discharge from the army they returned to Wahpeton where he was employed by the Farm and Home Store. During the Korean conflict he was called back into service and saw duty in Posen, Korea.
He was employed by the Ben Franklin Store here. He became ill Aug. 16, suffering from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was under care at St. Francis Hospital.
