Obituary
Funeral Services Set Tuesday for John Stelton, 64
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Vertin’s-Wahpeton Chapel for John Stelton, 64, Wahpeton, who died suddenly of a heart attack Friday morning.
Rev. Everett C. H. Owens will be officiating clergyman. Vocalist will be Clifford Cummins and the organist Mrs. F. D. Brown. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday (today) and until the time of services Tuesday. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
John William Stelton was born Dec. 8, 1897 in the Fairmount area. He grew to manhood there and was married to Julia Viola Garrison, also of that community, Oct 5, 1920. They farmed near Fairmount for a time and about 1929 moved into Rosholt where Mr. Stelton operated the road maintainer for a number of years. During World War II they lived near Superior, Wis., and Mr. Stelton worked in the shipyards there. In 1945 they moved into Wahpeton and have resided there since.
Surviving are his wife, Julia, and six of their children: Mrs. Leonard (Clara) Osborn, of Fairmount, Roy and Lee Stelton, both of Wahpeton, Mrs. Gerald (Dora) Olson of Mooreton, Bert of Minneapolis and Alta of Fargo. Also his three brothers, Floyd and Ralph Stelton both of Rosholt and George of Green Lake, Wis. His parents Mr. and Mrs. William Stelton, and one son, Glen, an infant, preceded him in death.
Mr. Stelton died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Olson, where he was visiting.
Pallbearers will be Orval and Wayne Osborn, Manford Olson, Francis Mayou, and Kenneth and Wesley Erdahl.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Ellison, Lawrence Bauch, Enoch Erdahl, Edward Moore, O.K. Olson and Lee Agnew.
