Gus Stern’s Body is Found in His Truck
Gus Stern, well known Wahpeton man, was found dead Saturday morning in his truck, which was parked in the garage at the rear of the Stern lot. Coroner L.E. Lester said that death was due to accidental monoxide poisoning. Funeral services are to be conducted Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from Immanuel Lutheran church here and burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
Gustav W. Stern was born, Sept. 26, 1887, in Otter Tail County, Minn., and came to Great Bend vicinity with his parents as a young boy. He grew to manhood there and was married June 16, 1913, at Alexandria, Minn., to Louisa Wangerin, who survives him. The couple lived in Cayuga and Forman vicinities for a time coming to Wahpeton in 1919.
Since coming to Wahpeton, Mr. Stern had been in the trucking business and had been employed by the Wahpeton water department. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, August, who lives in California.
The body will lie in state at the Schmitt and Olson funeral parlors until 11 a.m. Tuesday from where it will be taken to the church.
