Obituary

Mrs. Anna Stitz, Breck, Dies; Rites Set for Saturday

Mrs. Anna Stitz, 91, Breckenridge, died early this morning (Thursday) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gay Paullin of Breckenridge.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation at Jos. Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge will be Friday from 2 p.m. through the evening and Saturday morning until noon and at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Stitz was born July 8, 1873, in Berlin, Germany, and came to the U.S. with her parents when she was 6 years old. She was raised in Frazee, Minn., where her parents farmed.

She was married to John Stitz at Carroll, Ia., in June 1893. They made their home at Carroll for several years before moving to Breckenridge in 1909, where the home has been since. Mr. Stitz died in 1927. Mrs. Stitz continued to live in Breckenridge.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wahpeton.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Bennie (Grace) Pelvit of Breckenridge, Mrs. Gay (Mae) Paullin of Breckenridge, and Mrs. Robert (Devota) Donnelly of Breckenridge; two sons, Nick of Breckenridge, and George of Chicago; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1927, one daughter, and two sons.
