Obituary
Martha Stoltenow, 84, Wahpeton resident
Martha Stoltenow, 84, Wahpeton, N.D., died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge, Minn. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home with the Rev. A.R. Aleson officiating.
Casketbearers will be Kim Gutzmer, Jai Gutzmer, Dean Christianson, Bruce Christianson, Jon Gutzmer and Timothy Gutzmer.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. today (Sunday) at the funeral home, with a 5 p.m. prayer service.
Martha A. Doleshy was born March 23, 1913, to Edward and Anna (Kosek) Doleshy near Victor, Mont. She grew up and attended school near Brushville, Minn. She married Otto Gutzmer in 1932 and they farmed near Everdell, Minn., and Dwight, N.D., raising eight children. She married Elroy Stoltenow in September 1956. Elroy died in August 1968. Martha lived in Wahpeton at the Community Homes for 25 years. In November 1997 she entered St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton.
She was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing bingo and reading.
Martha is survived by six children, Richard Gutzmer and Lois Hermes, Breckenridge; Gordon Gutzmer, Fergus Falls, Minn.; Ruth Ostern, Wahpeton; Leona Walker, Bismarck, N.D.; Carol (Dennis) Deaton, Portland, Ore.; and Dennis (Barbara) Gutzmer, Fergus Falls; one brother, Robert (Luverne) Doleshy, rural Wahpeton; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Warren and Eugene Gutzmer; and three grandchildren, Eugene Gutzmer, Jr., Jerry Gullickson and Bradley Walker.
