Obituary

Mrs. Henry Schmidt, 71, Dies Saturday in Breck

Mrs. Henry C (Lydia A.) Schmidt; 71, lifelong resident of Richland County, died unexpectedly Saturday at St Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. Rev. Edward J. Rutter will officiate at funeral services scheduled for 2 Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A prayer service is slated for Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Vertin’s Wahpeton chapel.

Lydia Holthusen was born Nov. 29, 1895 at Tyler, N. D. in Summit township, to parent’s Henry and Adeline Holthusen. She was raised in that area and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. H. Hoffner.

She was married to Henry Schmidt on Oct. 20, 1932. They lived here where Mr. Schmidt worked as a carpenter. Mr. Schmidt died Nov. 1, 1962 and she continued to live here.

Surviving are four brothers, Henry, John, George L. and Fred Holthusen, two sisters, Mrs. L. J. (Maggie) Thimjon and Mrs. Edward (Ann) Wegner, all of Wahpeton.

Preceding her in death were her husband; a brother, Dick on Oct. 20, 1966, two sisters, Katheryn Edrman and Grace Iverson.

Interment will be Chritus Gardens, Wahpeton. Pallbearers will be Orval Holthusen, Gordon Thimjon, Clyde Olson, John Gast, Fred Mahler, and George Mahler.

The Garden of the Christus is located in the Memorial Gardens, which comprises the northern half of the cemetery.
