Fred Scheiterlein

The funeral for Fred Scheiterlein, 75, of Wahpeton was Monday morning at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. Burial was at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Mr. Scheiterlein died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge.

Organist was Mrs. Horace Lahren and vocalist was Lyle Jacobson.

Casket bearers were Bryan Uhlich, James, Dale, Wayne and Roger Tobolt and Alvin Gehrke.

Fred Scheiterlein was born Oct. 9, 1900 at Bronhalzheim, Germany to George and Cathleen Scheiterlein.

He came to Mandan in his early twenties to work for an uncle. He later went to Ashby, Minn., where he purchased and operated a blacksmith's shop.

He married Frances Tobolt June 2, 1929 at Ashby. The couple moved to White Rock, S.D. where he purchased a blacksmith's shop and a car sales business which he later moved to Breckenridge.

In 1941 he moved his family to Wahpeton where he purchased West Side Motors. He retired several years ago due to illness.

Survivors are his wife; a son, Jerrold of Wahpeton; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Catherine) Uhlich of Wahpeton; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Emma) Schostock of Bronhalzheim, Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
