Obituary
Services Wednesday for Judge Schneller
Judge Clifford E. Schneller, 69, of the Third Judicial District, died Saturday of an apparent heart attack at Davenport, Iowa, while returning to Wahpeton from Florida.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Dreyer Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until 11 p.m. at Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel.
Clifford E. Schneller was born Dec. 26, 1902, at Wahpeton, the son of Frank and Josephine (Skate) Schneller. He graduated from Wahpeton High School and received his law degree from the University of North Dakota in 1925. He practiced law with his father until his death in 1935. He married Gladys E. Whitney Feb. 2, 1935, in Fargo.
Following eight years as Richland County states attorney, 1933-1941, and eight years as city attorney here, 1948-1956, he was appointed District Judge of the Third Judicial District.
He won election to the post in 1960 and was re-elected in 1966.
Judge Schneller was a member of the National Conference of State Trial Judges, the State and American Bar Associations, Masons, Old Fellows, Elks, Rotary and the United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife; a sister, Mrs. William F. (Donna) Freeman of Spokane, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
