Obituary
Oscar Shelstad
Services for Oscar Shelstad, 79, Wahpeton, will be here Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Church of God, with Rev. Phillip Shearer officiating. Burial will be here at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Shelstad died Sunday at St. Francis Home, Breckenridge.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Tuesday and continuing through the evening at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Oscar Shelstad was born Aug. 19, 1896 near Madison, Minn. to Ole and Anna (Stockman) Shelstad. He grew up there and attended local schools. He served in the army in World War I.
He married Florence Mikkelson Aug. 27, 1936. The couple lived at Wahpeton where he was employed as a mechanic at Lillegard's. She preceded him in death in 1975.
He was a member of the Church of God and the American Legion.
Survivors are a son, Owen, of Wahpeton; two granddaughters; a brother; Alfred, of Wayzata, Minn.; and a sister, Mrs. Alma Oyen of Appleton, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five brothers, and three sisters.

The Garden of the Christus is located in the Memorial Gardens, which comprises the northern half of the cemetery.
