Obituary
Florence Shelstad
Mrs. Oscar (Florence) Shelstad, 68, Wahpeton, died Friday at her home. Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Breckenridge at the Full Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. Harold Brynteson and Rev. Phillip Shearer officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be all day Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born June 18, 1907 near Dwight, N.D. to Christ and Mary Evjen Mikkelson. Her parents farmed. They moved to Breckenridge when she was a child and she attended school in Breckenridge, graduating in 1924. She worked for a few years at the Wilkin County Courthouse.
She married Oscar Shelstad August 27, 1936 at Wahpeton and lived there until her death. He was employed as a mechanic at Lillegards, Inc.
She was a member of the Full Gospel Church at Breckenridge and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, a son, Owen, Wahpeton, two granddaughters, a sister, Mrs. Clara Beech, Breckenridge and three brothers, Orton Mikkelson, Osakis, Minn. and Clarence and Richard Mikkelson, Breckenridge. She was preceded by her parents and a brother, Robert.
