Obituary
W. E. Simdorn, Barney Farmer, Funeral Tuesday
William E. Simdorn, 59, prominent Barney farmer, died Friday at the University of Minnesota Hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Peace Lutheran church at Barney with Rev Lambert Dierks officiating and Vertin Funeral Home of Wahpeton in charge. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Brosowske Jr., LaVern and DuWayne Simdorn, Donald and Marlyn Wittkopp and Robert Thiel. Honorary bearers will be Rudolph Kressin, Raymond Puetz, Harold Bolstad, William Busch, Carl Haberman and Donald Hager.
The body will lie in state at Vertin Funeral Home Monday afternoon and evening and until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Born Nov. 16 1899 at Lotts Creek, Iowa, he came to Barney with his parents when three years old. He attended schools and grew to manhood in the Barney community and married Ada Thiel Oct. 4, 1922.
Mr. Simdorn had served as a member of Barney township board and was an active member and trustee of Peace Lutheran Church for many years.
Surviving besides Mrs. Simdorn are: two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Irene) Jansen of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. E. O. (Yvonne) Lindquist of Los Angeles, Calif., two sons, Robert of Lubbock, Tex., and Gerald of Breckenridge; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Bust of Mantador and Albert of Breckenridge, and three sisters Ms. Herman Wittkopp of DeLamere, Mrs. Raymond Campbell of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Carl Peterson of Swanville, Minn.
A daughter died in infancy.
