Obituary
Charles Smith Dies Monday
Charles R. Smith, Sr., 68, of 420 South 6th Sr., Wahpeton died unexpectedly at his home Monday morning (today) of an apparent heart attack.
Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which are pending.
Mr. Smith was born in Savanna, Ill., Aug 24, 1890. He married Neta Downs in June 1922 at Lyons, Ill. The couple moved to Wahpeton in 1926 and was employed as shop foreman at the Wahpeton Chevrolet Garage. He also worked for 22 years in the maintenance department of the State School of Science, retiring in 1961.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Charles, Jr. of Grand Forks and two grandchildren, Marie and Mark Smith, and one sister, Mrs. Albert (Edna) Day of Ventura, Calif.
He is preceded in death by three brothers and sisters.
