Obituary
Olaf Snortland
Funeral services for Olaf Snortland, 63, of Breckenridge will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, with Rev. Reuben Mellum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Snortland died Sunday at his home.
Visitation will be all day Tuesday, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Joseph Vertin & Sons, Breckenridge.
He was born Feb. 24, 1910, at Sharon, N.D., to Simon and Melene Snortland. The family moved to Tolna, N.D., where he grew up and attended schools. In 1927 he began working for Great Northern Railroad.
He married Inez Arlien June 12, 1937, at Lakota, N.D., They came to Breckenridge, later moved to McCauleyville, Minn., and Minot, then returned to Breckenridge.
He retired January, 1972. He was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way employees, Burlington Northern Veteran's Association and Eagles No. 2749.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, John, Kansas City, Mo., and Donald, Fargo; a daughter, Karen (Mrs. John) Becker, Brookings, S.D.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Engulf and Edward, Tolna; and a sister, Louise (Mrs. Sylvester) Binek, Dickinson. He was preceded by his parents, three brothers and a sister.
