Obituary
Mrs. Roy Snyder Rites Sunday
LaMars – Funeral services were held Sunday, March 9 in the Bethany Methodist Church, LaMars Township, for Mrs. Roy Snyder, 50 of LaMars who died Wednesday in Fargo. The Rev. David Sahr officiated. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at Wahpeton in the spring.
Mrs. Joyce Rosenkranz of Elbow Lake, Minn., served as organist and vocalists were Mrs. LaVerne Luick of LaMars and Mrs. Rodney Voss of Rosholt.
Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Schutt, Frank Cottingham, Paul Walter, Mike Leinen, Allan Engebretson and Robert Green, all neighbors.
Active pallbearers were Robert Walendorf, Ray Henningson, Howard Hovde and Alvin Hovde, all cousins and of the Ortonville area, Kenneth Anderson of rural Rosholt and Arnold Anderson of rural Hankinson, both nephews. Fred C. Snyder and B.E. Chapman served as ushers. The members of Bethany Women’s Society of Christian Service attended the service in a body in honor of their president, Mrs. Snyder.
Marguerite Thelma McShane was born August 7, 1918 at Ortonville, Minn., one of twin daughters born to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence McShane. Shortly afterward, her parents moved to the rural White Rock area where her childhood was spent. She attended the Moreland rural grade school and was graduated from the Ortonville High School.
She married Roy Snyder March 21, 1937 in the Breckenridge Methodist Church. The couple resided on several farms in the White Rock area and in 1945 purchased and moved to their present farm.
Mrs. Snyder served from 1952 through 1957 as a local 4-H leader of the LeMars girls 4-H club and was very active in the work of the Bethany United Methodist Church of rural Fairmount. At the time of her death, she was serving as secretary of the church board and was president of the Bethany Women’s Society of Christian Service. She had also worked for many years with the Sunday school.
She became suddenly ill with a massive cerebral hemorrhage Friday evening, Feb 28 and was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. She was transferred the following day to St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo where she underwent brain surgery.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Snyder; one son and two daughters, Adrian Snyder of Minneapolis, Mrs. Lonnie (Meredith) Wells of Rockville, Md., and Miss VivaSnyder of Moorhead; two grandchildren, Terrie Snyder of Minneapolis and Larry Wells of Rockville, Md.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. McShane of Moorhead and her twin sister, Mrs. Arthur (Grace) Anderson of Hankinson.
