Obituary
Emelia Sparby
Emelia Sparby, 76, Wahpeton, died Wednesday at her home. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. The Rev. Bob Olson and the Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton. Visitation will begin Thursday afternoon and extend into the evening, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home. There will also be visitation until 11 a.m. Friday at Vertin's.
Myrtle Farup and Irene Johnson will be honorary casket bearers. Active casket bearers will be Marie Bakken, Shirley Wolfgram, Karen Selken, Janice Manning, Diane Maier, Arline Schimelfenig, Florence Miller and Vernice Kraft.
Emelia Hanson was born Jan. 12, 1903 at New Effington, S.D., the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Sweno) Hanson. She married Rudolph Sparby on June 30, 1924 at Rosholt, S.D. They lived in Rosholt until 1943 when they moved to Wahpeton.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. James (Audrey) LeProe, Mendota Heights, Minn., Mrs. Jack (Lavon) Hall, Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Miller and Mrs. Hilda Miller, both of Browns Valley, Minn., Mrs. Tilda Johnson, Moscow, Idaho, Mrs. Maude Quaal, Whittier, Calif.; three brothers, Adolph, Fairmount, N.D., Harry, Sisseton, S.D., and Harold, Milwaukee, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
