Obituary
Rites for Herbert Stine, Former Resident, Held
Funeral services for Herbert Stine, former Wahpeton resident and recently of Spring Lake Park Minn., were held this afternoon (Monday) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Rev. A. E. Reimann of the Prince of Peace Lutheran of Minneapolis officiated.
Interment was in Christus Gardens, Fairview Memorial Garden, Wahpeton.
Mr. Stine died Thursday night at his home.
Herbert Stine was born March 27, 1915 at Fairmount, son of Fred and Martha Stine. He grew to manhood in the Fairmount area and attended schools there before moving to Wahpeton in 1940. He was employed at Ottertail Power Co. before enlisting in the army serving during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to Wahpeton.
He married Clara Olson, Aug. 14, 1947, at Tyler, N.D., making their home in Wahpeton where he worked for Hoppert’s Plumbing and Heating. A number of years later they moved to several different locations and then to Minneapolis in 1962 where they resided since.
He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Kraus Hartig VFW Post 6587 of Spring Lake Park, Minn. He also was active in the Boy Scout program.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, David and Williams, both at home; three brothers, Robert of Doran, Minn., Louis of Sheboygan, Wis., Reinhardt of Anaheim, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. George (Bernice) Zentgraf of Fairmount, Mrs. George (Norma) Schroeder of Wahpeton, Mrs. Rudolph (Tilda) Schroeder of Wahpeton and Mrs. Edna Johnson of Oshkosh, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Organist was Mrs. William Enochson and the Immanuel Ladies Choir sang.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Wahpeton VFW Post 4324. A Prayer Service was held Sunday at Vertin’s Wahpeton. Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating.
Another service was held Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Columbia Heights, Minn.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Zentgraf, Mearl Zentgraf, Delmar Zentgraf, Richard Miller, Delmar Zentgraf, Jr., and Ralph Schroeder.
