Obituary
Stoltenow Rites Thursday at Great Bend
Funeral services were held Nov. 16 at the Trinity Evanelical Lutheran Church at Great Bend for Pfc. Ronald Gilbert Stoltenow who was killed Nov 7 in Vietnam. The Rev. Rudolph Nast officiated. Mrs. H.H. Weiss was the organist and companied the church choir. Interment was in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton. Military graveside rites were conducted by Eberhard Post 88 of Hankinson and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Mantador.
Pallbearers were Rodney Gran, Curtis Stoltenow, Gary Gutzmer, Michael Nieman, Larry Thiele and Robert Stein. SP4 Limuel M. Purvis of Fort Riley, Kansas, was the military escort.
Ronald Stoltenow was born June 29, 1947 at Breckenridge, Minn. He was baptized July 27, 1947 and confirmed April 2, 1961, in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church at Great Bend. He attended grade school at Great Bend and graduated from Wahpeton High school in May, 1965, and attended the North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton for one year.
He married Sharon Somers of Fergus Falls, Minn., Jan. 21, 1967. The couple lived in Minneapolis where he was employed until he entered military service March 6 of this year. He left for Vietnam Aug 8 and served there until the time of death.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Stoltenow of Great Bend; and three sisters LaRae and Rebecca both at home and Mrs. Gerald (Elois) Bohn of Elbow Lake, Minn.
