Obituary
B. C. Thompson
Funeral services for B. C. Thompson, 76, Wahpeton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Christ in Wahpeton with Rev. J. Edward Krueger officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens with graveside military rites by the American Legion.
Mr. Thompson died Monday at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home chapel and one hour prior to services at the church.
B. C. Thompson was born March 23, 1898 at Ashby, Minnesota to B. O. and Anna Thompson.
He moved with his family to Max, N.D. where he was raised. He subsequently served in the navy during World War I and later worked in a drug store at Jamestown before purchasing a drug store at Carrington, N.D.
He married Minerva Rognas September 16, 1922 at Devils Lake. The couple lived at Carrington until 1930 when they moved to Wahpeton where he purchased Wahpeton Drug from Mr. Keene.
Last January he sold the pharmacy to William Grosz but continued to own and operate the retail business.
He was active in community affairs, being associated with the Breckenridge-Wahpeton semi-professional baseball program and the American Legion baseball program. He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles, El Zagel Shrine at Fargo, the American Legion, the 300 Club and the 100 Club at the State School of Science, the Concordia C-400 Club, a charter member of the Wahpeton Kiwanis Club, a 50-year member of the Aurora Lodge, AF and AM chapter of the Masonic lodge at Carrington, and a trustee of the United Church of Christ. He served with the navy during World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Minerva of Wahpeton; his mother, Mrs. B. O. (Anna) Thompson of Oakes; a daughter, Mrs. George (Barbara) Pinjuv of Verdi, Nev.; two grandchildren, Paula and Georgia; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. George (Pearl) Christensen of Oakes; and a brother, Walter of Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his father, one son and two brothers.
Arrangements were with Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home.
