Obituary

Lyle Torgenrud Dies Thursday

Lyle J. Torgenrud, 52, of Wahpeton died Thursday in St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. Funeral services were held at 10:30 Monday morning in Bethel Lutheran Church with The Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. Organist was Mrs. Vernon Hektner and vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hans. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Karst, Carl Simonitch, Martin Hanson, Donald Hinnenkamp, Ronald Ostlund and Carl Schmitt. Mr. Torgenrud was born July 24, 1916, at Minot, N.D., the son of Peander and Clara Torgenrud. He lived at New Rockford, N.D., and Crookston, Minn., before graduating from Breckenridge High School. He was employed for a time by J. C. Penney Co. He began working for the Great Northern railway in August, 1943 and was an engineer at the time of his death. He married Maxine Hoffman March 8, 1941, at Benson, Minn. He was member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Elks.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Capt. Terry Torgenrud, Ft. Lewis, Wash., and David, Seattle Wash.; his mother, Mrs. Clara Torgenrud, Breckenridge and one grandchild.

Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
