F. A. Thimjon Rites Sunday In Local Church
Legion Has Military Rites for Veteran Of World War I
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from Immanuel Lutheran church for Fred A. Thimjon, 54, who died Thursday in Milwaukee, Wis. Rev. H. Fry officiated and the American Legion held military rites for the veteran of World War I.
Fred Thimjon was born May 8, 1896, the son of the late Fred and Anna Thimjon in Summit township. He went to school in Wahpeton and later was employed by Levine Brothers Produce company and Swift & Co.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army July 22, 1918 in Wahpeton and was discharged Nov 15, 1918. Unmarried, he moved to Milwaukee 15 years ago. He had been hospitalized since the first of June.
He leaves a brother, L. J. Thimjon of Wahpeton, and four sisters, Mrs. John (Annie) Brummond, Hankinson, N.D., Mrs. Andrew (Lena) Sorenson, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mrs. Ben (Alvina) and Mrs. Don (Kathryn) Cryan, Houston, Texas. His parents, a brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery beside his brother Ben.
Pallbearers were Bordon, Marvin, Walt, Wilfred and Harry Thimjon and Harold Meyer.
