Obituary

Edward Trupka dies; funeral in Wahpeton

Edward Trupka, 78, lifelong resident of Wahpeton, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday. The funeral will be at 2 Saturday in Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel with the Rev. Edward J. Rutter officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Miller- Hafner-Ross American Legion Post of Wahpeton. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday (today) afternoon and evening Saturday until time of service at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home.

Honorary casket bearers will be Harry Carlsen, John Diederich, Al Funfar, Oliver Hillestad, Louis Jacobs, Tom Jonietz, Jerry Meyer, Monrad Rakstad, Edwin Solien and Ole Snortland.

Active casket bearers will be Carl Swenson, Robert Swenson, Steve Pecha, Ed Pecha, Ed Jacobs and Hollis Krier.

Mr. Trupka was born April 20, 1893, in Wahpeton, the son of Wenzel and Rosilia (Turek) Trupka. He was educated in Wahpeton and was later employed by the Great Northern Railway. He retired in 1948 due to ill health. He married Pauline Pecha Sept. 15, 1926 at Grafton. The couple lived in Wahpeton following their marriage. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees.

Edward Trupka was severely wounded on 10/20/1918 while in France.
