Emil Vallager

Services for Emil Villager, 64, vocational agricultural teacher at Wahpeton High School at Wahpeton High School were Monday at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann and Rev. Robert Olson officiating. Burial was at Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Mr. Vallager died Friday morning at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge.

Organist was Mrs. Vernon Hektner and vocalists were Mrs. Robert Williams and John Roux.

Presentation of the American flag was by the Wahpeton American Legion Post 20.

Honorary casket bearers were Alvin Hans, Dennis Boumont, Dan Tehle, Marlyn Miller, Don Miller, Merle Hoppert, Charles Klosterman, Ray Chermak, Roland Nies, Neil McClure, Shubel Owen, Bill Grosz and Leo Klosterman.

Active casket bearers were Wayne Ward, Donald Klosterman, Scott Miller, David Link, Kelly Klosterman, Robert Matejcek, Keith Fleischauer, Craig Pausch, and Paul Dietz.

Emil Vallager was born Feb. 1, 1912 at Leeds, N.D. to Einar and Anna (Hanson) Vallager.

He graduated from Leeds High School and from North Dakota State University, Fargo, where he received a BS degree in agricultural eduction. He later obtained a master's degree in NDSU.

He taught in the Grafton public schools before entering the armed forces during World War II.

He married Helen J. Johnson June 1, 1942 at Fargo. After the war he taught at Langdon, N.D. until 1955. He has taught in the Wahpeton system from 1956 to the present.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the National Education Association, the North Dakota Educational Association, the American Vocational Agricultural Association, the Wahpeton Educational Association, Alpha Zeta honorary agricultural fraternity, Future Farmers of America (was an honorary state farmer), Elks, Wahpeton Masonic Lodge, and Wahpeton Country Club.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Jim of Fargo and John of Crookston, Minn; and three sisters, Mrs. George (Stella) Weimer of Devil's Lake, Mrs. Roy (Alma) Runsvold of Fargo and Myrtle Vallager of Seattle, Wash.
