John Visger Dies After Long Illness
Former Deputy Sheriff and Police Officer Is Victim of Cancer; Odd Fellows In Charge of Funeral
John V. Visger, 61, 14 years a resident of Wahepton, where he had served on the police force and as a deputy sheriff, died at a local hospital early Sunday morning after a long illness of carcimona. He had been incapaciated for more than two years.
Funeral services were held from Foss Memorial M. E. church yesterday afternoon at 2 p. m. The local lodge of Odd Fellows was in charge. Burial was made in Fairview cemetery.
Mr. Visger was born in Beloit, Wis., and was married to Miss Sarah Barner, of Neodosha, Kansas, at Rockford, Ills. They came to North Dakota in 1910, locating first for a few months at Cayuga, when they came to Wahpeton, where they have ever since resided.
He is survived by his widow and three children.
Mr. Visger was honest, upright, of genial disposition and had a host of friends in Wahpeton to whom news of his passing will bring sorrow.
