Obituary
Edward Wegner, Wahpeton Dies on Sunday at Age 82
Edward D. Wegner, 82 longtime resident of Wahpeton, died Sunday at St. Francis hospital after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran church. Rev. Henry Fry officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wegner was born at Janesville Minn., July 10 1880, and moved later with his family to Elbow Lake. He came to Wahpeton as a young man in 1924. He was employed as a laborer and construction worker.
He married Anna Holthusen Nov 27, 1924. Mr. Wegner was member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife and a niece, Mrs. Vincent (Mabel) Samuelson, Durand, Wis., whom Mr. and Mrs. Wegner raised from childhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ernest, who died two years ago.
Pallbearers will be Orville Holthusen, Gordon Thimjon, Henry Plateman, Ernest Plateman, Alfred Miller and Marvin Thimjon. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Witt, Arhold Olson, William Tribke, Herman Radig, Phillip Worner, Henry Hauschild, Ludwig Matt and William Matheson.
Vertin’s-Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
