Obituary
Funeral Set for Tuesday For Frank Welch, 74
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Vertin’s-Wahpeton chapel for Frank D. Welch, 74, Wahpeton, longtime Richland County resident who died Friday at the Veteran’s Hospital in Fargo after a brief illness.
Rev. Everett C. H. Owens will be officiating clergyman. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Welch was born Oct. 2, 1887, at Abercrombie and moved to Wahpeton when he was 5 years of age. He was married to Frederica Femling, May 1, 1931.
He served 10 months in the arm during World War 1 being a member of Company I. He was a past member of the American Legion.
Mr. Welch was a former deputy sheriff of Richland county. He operated a café for two years at Wahpeton. Later he resided at Dent, Minn. Upon his return to Wahpeton he was with the Globe Gazette Printing Co., until retiring in 1954.
Since retirement he had been bailiff of the Richland county court.
Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, David of Fergus Falls; Patrick of Wahpeton; Frank, in the Navy at Flint, Mich., and Jerald in the arm in South Viet Nam and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters, James Welch, Fergus Falls; Louis Brown, Dent; Mrs. Hoyt (Margaret) Yataes, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Anna Sprague and Mrs. Lottie Evenson, both of Seattle.
Mrs. F. D. Brown will be organist. Vocalists will be Mr. and Mrs. John Femling, Mrs. David Welch and Cecil Femling.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Olson, E. R. Nickel, B. P. McCusker, George Fischer, John Quinn and Harley Swanson, all former members of Company I.
