Philip J. Widhalm

Philip J. Widhalm, 36, Wahpeton, died Tuesday at Dakota Hospital, Fargo. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, the Rev. George Mehok officiating.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with an 8 p.m. Bible vigil at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home East Chapel. There will also be visitation at the chapel until 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

He was born May 24, 1943 at Lindsay, Neb., the son of Lawrence and Helen (Slizoske) Widhalm. The family moved to Mooreton township when he was a child. He attended St. John's Catholic School and the North Dakota State School of Science, both in Wahpeton. He married Cynthia Ziegelmann at Great Bend Nov. 21, 1970. He was employed at the Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the International Order of Foresters.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Russell and Michael, both at home; his parents, rural Wahpeton; two brothers, Robert, Henderson, Nev., and Ivan, Grand Forks; three sisters, Mrs. Philip (Agatha) Herding, Hankinson, Mrs. Alwayne (Darlene) Draeger, Wahpeton, and Ruth Widhalm, Wahpeton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Honorary casket bearers will be Steve Ziegelmann, Benny Samek, Carl Stuehrenberg, Gerald McMahon, Craig Erickson, Jerome Schroeder, Mike Poppel, Raymond Smith, Jeff Affield and Ron Terfehr.

Active casket bearers will be Robert Widhalm, Jr., Tony German, Merle Gebro, Jerry Hills, Keith Kuehl, Earl Ziegelmann, Mark Ziegelmann and Dale Ziegelmann.
