Obituary
Oscar Worner Last Rites Held in Wahpeton
Funeral services were held in Wahpeton Monday afternoon in the Evangelical United Brethren Church for Oscar F. Worner, 74, long time Great Bend businessman. Mr. Worner died Friday in St. Francis hospital after an illness of three months.
The Rev. Elmer Walter officiated at the last rites with Schmitt-Poulton Funeral home of Wahpeton In charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Born September 22 1883 at Great Bend he attended schools and grew to manhood there and attended the Red River Valley University here. He also attended business college in Fargo and North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
Returning to Great Bend he engaged in the general merchandise business with his father and also operated an insurance agency.
He had served 25 years as secretary of the Great Bend Telephone Co., and was clerk of the school district. Active in the Evangelical United Brethren Sunday School superintendent, a trustee and in the choir. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He married Dorothy Dehlendorf September 21, 1910 at Milbank, S. D. She died May 31, 1957.
Surviving are two sons, Oliver of Paynesville, Minn., and Morris, of Great Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Florence) Thiele and Mrs. Manvel (Alice) Stoltenow, both of Great Bend.
Five brothers Walter of Bismarck, George and Herb of Wahpeton, Elroy of Chicago and Ezra of Fort Steilacoom, Wash: two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Thiele, Fargo and Mrs. Sadie Beling, Van Nuys Calif., and eight grandchildren.
