Fred Walters Dies Thursday Morning
Funeral Services have not been arranged pending word from relatives for Fred Walters, aged 73, who died this (Thursday) morning at the home of his son Elmer Walters, in this city. He had made his home with his son for a number of years. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Thos. Coghlan, of Huron, S.D., Wilfred Walters of Fesno, Cal., Mrs. C. W. Eiter, of San Diego, Cal., Elmer Walters of this city and Alvin Walters.
Mr. Walters was a carpenter and followed his trade in this city for many years. His wife and an infant son preceded him in death many years ago and he will be laid to rest beside them in Fairview cemetery. Frederick J. Walter – 1942 Funeral Monday For Jacob Walter Services Conducted From Immanuel Church Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from Immanuel Lutheran church for Frederik Jacob Walter well known local carpenter with Rev. R. J. Becker officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery. Frederick Jacob Walter was born March 25, 1869, at Newstadt, Ontario, Canada. In the year 1900, he entered the estate of matrimony with Julia Minnie Boettcher, at Atkinson, Neb., who preceded him in death on February 28, 1916. To this union the following children were born: Ruth (Mrs. Thomas Coughlin) of Huron, S.D.; Wilfred of Fresno, Cal.; Cecelia (Mrs. C. W. Eiter) San Diego, Cal.; Elmer of this city, with whom Mr. Walter spent the declining years of his life and Alvin.
One child, Marion Augusta, died soon after birth on Feb. 24, 1916. Esther also preceded her father in death at Ironwood, Mich., where she died by drowning. Besides his children, Mr. Walter leaves grandchildren and other relatives. The last years of his life he suffered the results of a stroke and was house-bound and under the loving care of his son and daughter-in-law. The end came Feb. 12th, having reached the age of 72 years, 19 months and 17 days. The body lay in state at Schmitt & Olson chapel until time of the services.
