Aug. Wegner Of This City Dies Suddenly Sunday

Resident Here Since 1915 Drops Dead: Funeral Arrangements Not Completed.

August William Wegner, resident of Wahpeton since 1915, passed away very suddenly at his home at about 10:40 Sunday night. Death is believed due to a heart attack.

Mr. Wegner was born July 6, 1881 in Germany and when about two years of age, he immigrated to America with his people. During the greater portion of his life, he has lived in North Dakota.

On September 14, 1910, Mr. Wegner was united in marriage to Mrs. Elsie Emma Glander of Hankinson. The marriage ceremony took place in Wahpeton. For the first five years of their married life they lived on a farm near Doran. From the farm they moved to Breckenridge where they lived a year and in 1915 moved to Wahpeton, acquiring property and over a period of years have lived on North First Street.

Mr. Wegner is well known in this county and in the city where he has followed his trade as a carpenter. On Sunday afternoon Mr. Wegner attended the baseball games at the Fairgrounds ball park, came home and partook of the evening meal and retired early. He awaked at about 10:30 and asked for a drink of water. Mrs. Wegner went to the kitchen for a glass of water and when she returned she found Mr. Wegner had toppled over and in a few seconds her husband was dead.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed as yet. Word is being awaited from relatives in Canada. The funeral will be held upon their arrival.

Besides his wife, Mr. Wegner is survived by eight children, William, Henry, Mildred, Elroy, Dorothy, Alice, Lillian and Elaine all at home with the exception of Miss Mildred who is a student nurse at the State Hospital in Fergus Falls and four sisters, Mrs. Paul (Annie) Koppe and Mrs. P. (Bertha) Daily both of Fergus Falls. Mrs. H. H. (Lizzie) Meyer of North Battle Ford, Can. And Mrs. H. D. (Clara) Lord of Wahpeton.
